Perfect Storm?

For the last couple of days I've been paying a visit to the Cafferty File on CNN.com. Each day he posts 3 questions related to some of the latest political news that day. So to help pass the day I use it as a healthy exercise to catch up on the latest political news and express my opinion in a concise little paragraph.

Here was one of today's questions:

Was John McCain’s statement that the economy is fundamentally sound a fatal error?

My answer (that didn't get posted for some reason):

This news cycle is a perfect storm that could very well sink the McCain ship. Each headline about the latest economy failure coupled with the "fundamentally sound" sound byte spells real trouble for his campaign. What I'm still waiting on is for Obama to respond with some real solutions for the economy. Until then, there are no winners - instead, the American people lose.

Dare I ask your opinion?
