Holding my breath

You may have noticed the week long absence of my voice hear on my blog. Apologies for that, although it's likely no one noticed. There are mostly two reasons for my lack of writing. First, I got sick for a few long days. I'm still getting over it, but all that's left now is a mild cough. Even though I was at home most of that time, I was just not up to doing much writing.

The second reason has been a mixture of uncertainty and fear of tempting fate. In case you haven't noticed, one of the biggest topics I write on is politics and this election has captivated much of the nation, including myself.

So why is it that every time I go to post an article or type out my predictions I stop myself?

I think it's mostly just that I'm uncomfortable making a big prediction for the winners and losers in this election. Fans of the tv series "The West Wing" know that tempting fate is a very dangerous thing and is often remedied by going outside, spinning, cursing, spitting, etc.

Toby: "What, do you want to tempt the wrath of the...whatever, from high atop the thing?"
Sam: "No."
Toby: "Then go outside, turn around three times, and spit!

So before I tempt the wrath of whatever, I'd rather not make any predictions or even comment all that much. I'll just hold my breath for that moment when the newscasters start calling the election for...
