June First Friday

I'm always surprised at the number of Enidites who have no clue about First Friday.

Are you one of these clueless individuals?

Shame on you!

But it's alright. Here's a chance for you to catch up on what you've been missing out.

What is First Friday?

From Main Street Enid's website:
First Friday is a monthly event to draw people downtown to shop, dine and be entertained during the evening hours of the first Friday of the month. It is a retail event and also a campaign to draw awareness to downtown as a destination. Over 20 downtown merchants came together with the idea of getting customers in the habit of coming downtown after hours, something that was commonplace until the 1980’s.

People often ask "What is there to do in Enid?" and First Friday is one of the answers. There's plenty going on at different shops around the Square and immediate area. A lot of the shops have live music and other things going on inside so the best way to explore First Friday is to simply walk from location to location to see what's going on inside.

This Friday, June 3rd will be a prime example of First Friday fun.

The most happening place this time around just might be Broadway. The Felt Bird will be throwing their 2nd Annual Mustache Bash. People will craft/draw/grow a mustache and come out to enjoy free live music. At the same time, their next door neighbor will be celebrating their grand opening. Celebrate the opening of BlueJay's Barber Shop & Beauty Bar with free hot dogs and brew while it lasts.

Another awesome thing going on downtown is the Relay for Life. From 7PM-7AM participants will be circling the Square in support of cancer awareness and fundraising. Info on the event from the Enid News & Eagle.

And of course you can't forget this Friday night kicks off the 24-Hour Blogathon. It'll start at 7PM at Scribner's Gallery. We'll be performing live poetry and music all evening. Afterward, we'll refresh with coffee from Kaffee-Klatsch and meet up with some Relay for Life teams.

So I hope you make plans to come out and enjoy Downtown Enid for this month's First Friday festivities. It's gonna be a good one!
