It's good and I enjoy it, even if I was up until 1 a.m. the the night before.
I'm striving for consistency in writing daily and the commitment has worked and is paying off. And works in different areas in my life.
Consistency at work means I get noticed on the job for good quality.
Consistency in writing means I get more work done.
Consistency in prayer means I build better character, have a deeper understanding of God's will for my life and it means I eventually see results to my prayer.
Building better habits appeals to just about everyone. So why is it so difficult?
It's crucial, and I emphasize crucial, to have a target. Otherwise, I'm just building habits for the sake of building habits. They may be well-meaning habits but they will ultimately fail if I don't have a good reason to continue working to keep them consistent.
I keep my work ethic targeted to show my worth to the company, prove myself as a quality employee and open up my options for a better career.
I keep my writing targeted to improve my quality, increase my speed and obtain more opportunities to share.
I keep my prayers targeted to see changes in my own life, my attitudes and actions, and see changes in my friend's lives, that they would seek God with all their hearts and find unity among each other.
And you know what? Keeping targeted has worked. Consistency has brought results.
Some are small but I recognize them nonetheless. Whether it's an opportunity for promotion at work, another avenue to share my writing or small changes in my attitude, I recognize them as encouragement to keep doing what I'm doing.
You do that enough and before you know it, it's consistency.
So those are just my thoughts this morning. What are yours? What areas have you seen or would like to see more consistency? What's your target? It's something to think about today and if you do think of anything then I'd love to hear it. Until then...
