Busy, busy - Shoe Drive, 505 Project, CashMob, and keeping it local

It's been super busy around the Follow Eric offices lately.

This week we officially launched the summer shoe drive. I visited Mountain View, Los Padillas, and Westside Community Centers and talked to the kids about donating shoes to Soles4Souls. We have bins set up at each location. Anyone can drop off shoes from now until June 29th but registered summer program participants have a chance to win passes for Roller Skate City and Silva Lanes.

I'm also getting really excited about the upcoming 505 Project. It's a 30-day challenge to shop local. Albuquerque businesses are teaming up to provide deals for those taking the challenge. It'll launch tomorrow with a meet-up event organized by the ABQ CashMob. The mob will meet up to eat at Kelly's on Central then mob a local business by spending money at the yet-undisclosed location.

Then for the next month I'll be doing my best to keep it local. That means I'll be looking for local places for my shopping, eating out, and my coffee. I'm especially excited to test out all of the local food trucks here in Albuquerque. There are a good number out there and I'm compiling my list.

That means if you have any suggestions for local food trucks in Albuquerque, let me know now!

Alright, well I've got to get ready to pack things up here and head out to Summer Movies in the Park tonight at Mountain View Community Center. Free popcorn, cotton candy and an outdoor showing of Transformers 3 -- and good weather for the event!
