Nat'l Doughnut Day - Where to celebrate in ABQ and Enid

I'm not sure how this could possibly escape your attention, but today is National Doughnut Day -- a full 24-hour day dedicated to the glory of this fried dough delight.

So how should one go about celebrating this grand occasion?

If you live in Albuquerque, NM or near Enid, OK, here are my suggestions:

Enidites, I strongly recommend you pay a visit to Schieber's Donuts & Deli today. They were one of my favorite stops during the 24-Hour Blogathon. You've already missed the early morning rush but I'd suggest you try them out for lunch. Their soups today are roasted poblano with white cheddar and potato bacon. How good do those sound? And then you can get one of their ├╝ber-fluffy and delicious doughnuts and toast some milk in honor of this national holiday.

Albuquerqueans, I'm gonna suggest a visit to Duke City Donuts and for one main reason: MAPLE BACON DONUTS. I mean, come on. Maple and bacon and donut in one? Plus, it made the cover of last month's Food & Wine issue of Albuquerque the Magazine so you gotta respect that.

My question to you: From where do you like to get your donuts? Any special places local to wherever you are?

I completely missed doughnut day! I must make up for that by eating a ton of donuts from Schieber's!
