I forget how much I love the theatre. When everyone is getting all hot and bothered over the latest movie releases it's easy to miss out on the excellent productions going down at your local theatre. Let's be honest -- Hollywood's grasping at straws when its movies are based on board games, hyped up books and grotesquely inaccurate portrayals of dead presidents.
Here in Albuquerque, I urge you to shun the movie megaplex in favor of local theatre at places like The Vortex. That's where I caught the opening night of "Death of a Salesman." I have to admit to you, it was my first time seeing this classic tale but I'm really glad I had the chance to experience it through the lens of director James Cady's vision and as depicted by some of Albuquerque's top-notch actors.
It really revived my love for theatre and I encourage you to get out and experience some local theatre for yourself.
If you're in Albuquerque you have a chance to catch "Death of a Salesman" in the upcoming weeks. Check out their website for an updated schedule as well as any information on upcoming productions and stay up to date with their Facebook page.
