Date Night - Nob Hill

Dating can be tough business but planning a date night doesn't have to be. I'm here to help you plan a date night designed to impress and designed to take advantage of the high quality of local businesses here in Albuquerque.

This time around, I chose to focus on my favorite area of Albuquerque: Nob Hill. I invited a friend of mine to join me for a night out. We had a great time enjoying some of Albuquerque's best local dining while keeping it local.

These are good for any time of the year, not just Valentine's Day. So take notes because I'm going to break it down by the three essential elements of any good date: The Gift, The Meal, and The Dessert.

The Gift

You should never show up empty-handed when you arrive to pick up your date. Or conversely, you should never expect to be picked up unless your date has a little token of appreciation right from the start. This can be as simple as flowers or as fancy as some new bling but I found a great, affordable option at Bath & Body Bistro on the east end of Nob Hill.

B&BB offers a large selection of scented soaps, lotions, scrubs, massage oils, and much more than I could list here. These are far from commercial products. The soaps are handmade the old-fashioned way and make for a unique gift. With the much-needed and appreciated guidance of one of the store owners, I picked out a handcrafted soap as well as a scented bath gel and for less than 15 bucks. They even wrapped it up in store so it was ready to go for the date night.

The Meal

When in Nob Hill, you might as well go for the restaurant bearing its name. I took my date out to Nob Hill Bar & Grill for dinner.

NHB&G is almost sure to impress any date. It has a great location, upscale atmosphere, and, most importantly, food that's prepared to look and taste amazing.

My date opted for the Nob Hill Cheeseburger with chile con queso on the side and I ordered the Steak Frites.

The food is dressed to impress and the flavors are on point. My steak was prepared to a perfect medium and the pile of truffle fries were downright delicious. I especially recommend the Mozza Sticks. That pinon crust takes a standard appetizer and really punches it up. We were able to enjoy an app and entree for around $40.

The Dessert

For dessert in Nob Hill, look no further than Olo Yogurt Studio. It's a no-brainer, honestly. A little Olo is the perfect way to cap off a date night. The interior is fun and playful and a good place to have some face time with your date. And you can either load up or ease off on the amount of yogurt you pack in your cup depending on how much room you have left after dinner. It's an all around winner in my book.

And that does it for Date Night #1. I have another one planned for tonight with another friend of mine so look for that on the blog soon. If you guys enjoy reading these, let me know and there just might be more in the future.
