Hi, I'm Eric.

First of all, thanks for visiting my personal weblog. Whether this is your first time reading Follow Eric or you've been following for awhile, I appreciate your visit.

When I moved from my birthplace of Albuquerque, NM to the small town of Enid, OK back in January 2009, I had already been blogging for two years. At the time, Follow Eric wasn't much more than a personal blog where I could throw out whatever was on my mind at the time. It was after living there about a year when I was inspired to retool the blog to focus on the local happenings and places in my adopted hometown.

You see, everybody had been warning me before I moved that I didn't know what I was getting into. They were concerned that a guy moving from a big city like Albuquerque would be bored to tears in a small Northwest Oklahoma town. They warned me that there was "nothing to do in Enid."

I didn't take that as a warning so much as a challenge. I took it upon myself to discover all the local places in town and find activities and events to take part in. I even started writing for some local publications, covering local artists, businesses, and events. The journey took me all over Enid and the surrounding areas and even all over Oklahoma.

Eventually, it also brought me back to Albuquerque. I moved back in April 2012 and began to rediscover the city I grew up in.

But I hear the same things here that I heard in Oklahoma.

"There's nothing to do here."

"It's so boring here."

"Nothing cool happens in Albuquerque."

That's when I realized that it doesn't matter where you live, as long as you're unwilling to get out and try some new things, you'll never realize how amazing the place you live can be.

With that said, I'm going to try my best to share the places, the cafes, the businesses, the people, the events, and whatever other local things I come across with you guys here on the blog.

I also share a ton through Facebook and Twitter. To find all the ways to follow along, click the link.
